Sebastian Morgenstern is on the move, systematically turning Shadowhunter against Shadowhunter. Bearing the Infernal Cup, he transforms Shadowhunters into creatures out of nightmare, tearing apart families and lovers as the ranks of his Endarkened army swell.

The embattled Shadowhunters withdraw to Idris – but not even the famed demon towers of Alicante can keep Sebastian at bay. And with the Nephilim trapped in Idris, who will guard the world against demons?

When one of the greatest betrayals the Nephilim have ever known is revealed, Clary, Jace, Isabelle, Simon, and Alec must flee – even if their journey takes them deep into the demon realms, where no Shadowhunter has set foot before, and from which no human being has ever returned…

Love will be sacrificed and lives lost in the terrible battle for the fate of the word in the thrilling final installment of the classic urban fantasy series The Mortal Instruments!

My impression:
I started reading the final book just 2 days after I finished “City of Lost Souls” and… I’ve read half of it in 1 days. It’s absolutely interesting and nothing like the previous one. It caught my attention absolutely and I wasn’t able to stop reading. I don’t even have an idea why I had such difficulties reading 5th book.

Anyhow, the story follows what happened after Jace was saved and what actually Sebastian did to have the world. It was understandable that he wants Clary and he would do anything to have her. Somehow boring…, but this was his weakness after all.

Most interesting for me this time were the kids from LA institute – Blackthorn and the little Ema. Their story was captivating and perfectly added in the story. I would like to understand what is going to happen with them – maybe in another book.

And finally, what actually got my mind – who Brother Zachariah actually is? I want to know…

All in all, absolutely great final of this series. Cassandra Clare is great writer. I’ll follow her and will read her other books for sure.

The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues — and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.

What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

My impression:
This fifth book continues the story, where the previous book left it. And in the beginning was truly interesting, but…

I don’t know why, but this book appeared to be from these books, in which you like the story, but you can read only in the slowest way you can. Clary was boring, Jace was dumb & Sebastian was as always evil. At times everything was so boring, that I had to push myself to continue to read – I should finish the whole series.

It started to be more interesting in the final 70 pages, which I finished at once. And the only interesting story was the “love” between Simon and Isabelle & Jordan and Maya. I dunno why, but it was absolutely lost time for me.

However, there is one more book to read, which I hope will be better than this one.

My impression:
This book is absolutely the great beginning for the second part of the story. Well, I devide the story between book 1 – 3 and book 4 – 6. I had read it very fast – just for 2-3 days and the story was so fascnating, I wasn’t able to stop. Being honest, I read every moment I wasn’t at work.

All the time I was wondering what is going to happen and when finally I got what’s coming I was surprised. I never thought that Lilith will be included in the story. And you know who’s back? Yes, Sebastian! Oops, Johnathan. And I should say that I started to dislike Clary a bit. Not that she was my favorite, but didn’t really got her in this book. At all!

Meanwhile, while Clary and Jace was going through demons, vampires and etc., I absolutely enjoyed the story between Magnus and Alec – that’s my favorite couple. Yay!

Anyhow, this is good book! Very interesting and catching! You totally need to read!

My impression:
It’s been a long time since I read the second book, so when I started “City of Glass” it was little bit strange for me and I had to remember a lot of things while reading chapter after chapter. It was interesting all the time and i finished the book very fast.

The story… when we talk about the story and characters, my all time favorite is Jace and somehow Simon. And it was very good that finally the story was happening in the City of Glass. Fresh and dark Sebastian, was really someone to think about. There had something hidden in him and when I finally understood who is he, I knew it must be something like this.

Anyhow, good story.
